History of the School

St. Joseph’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Acharapakkam

Which is a minority educational institution was started in the year 1979 with 30 pupils with the intention of educating the children of this locality after repeated requests and insistence of parents. The Parish Priest of Acharapakkam Rev. Fr. Joseph Kuncherakat was its founder. The School Started functioning in the church premises with large class rooms and a good playground.

Under the dynamic leadership of Rev. Fr. D. F. John Bosco (1988 – 96), Rev. Fr . G.G. Lourduraj (1996 – 98) Rev. Fr. G. Backiya Regis (1998-2004) and Rev. Fr. Y.R. Dominic Savio (2004-2006), Rev. Fr. G.Kanikairaj (2006- 2011), Rev. Fr. N.A.Maria Joseph (2011-2016) the school had been growing from strength to strength. At present Rev. Fr.D.Suresh Charles is the Correspondent. His dedicated service will surely bear fruit in abundance.

The School belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Chingleput and Most. Rev. Dr. Neethinathan is the Chairman of the School.

In this diocesan institution the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny render their valuable service and co-operation in promoting the standard of the school and the overall development of the students. Their exemplary life and their tireless work has brought the school to the present stage.

This catholic institution, meant primarily for the children of this locality, is a state recognized one for both boys and girls.
